Monthly Blog - November 2024

Hi all and welcome to my new Monthly blog. I intend to do this every month, however I do get quite busy sometimes so sorry if I miss one!
This month started off with a trip to tree-climb with the scout group, they have a great setup there with high ropes courses and zip lines. The whole group had a ton of fun.
The following weekend I went for a walk in our farms 35hectare scrub block, we have this area fenced off for the native flora and fauna to thrive and I love spending a morning just walking around and seeing what has changed. Recently we had a group working on protecting some endangered wildflowers called white beauty spider orchids that grow on the block, they have put up fences around the 2 patches and even propagated more of them. Unfortunately I was too late for most of the wildflowers but managed to capture some great nature photos anyway.
Apart from the above it wasn't the most exciting of months for nature photography, we did have a visitor in our garden. One of the local ring-tailed possums with 2 joeys in her pouch. Amazingly, once she realised I was there she started moving and the 2 joeys fitted in her pouch. I couldn't believe how big possums pouches actually are!
I'm very much looking forward to next month. I am travelling to Fiji and also a remote atoll called Tarawa, Kiribati to meet up with a local Scout group there and hopefully make a connection between that group and our local group.
Stay Tuned.
